i was in gopeng on saturday. the monsoon season is just rolling in and you know what that means – the dams are spilling over and the river’s water levels are on the up: viva la white water rafting!!! *woot!*
but of course, pagi-pagi the water is sejuk and while i am quite fond of water, being continuously dipped in gushing ice is not exactly how your perfect saturday morning should start off. tak mau kak, sekian terima kasih.
so i went to observe a high ropes course nearby one of the kampungs in gopeng instead. i was so occupied shooting for a gig i’m preparing for, that by the time i was done, it was high noon and i had to take an IOU on the high ropes.
as scared as i am of heights, it is something i have been devilishly trying to overcome for what many years already. oh my god, the rope course was go damn tinggi – one of the highest in the country, so i have been told. i watched as the other participants do the elvis mambo on the ropes as they carefully thread their way through the obstacles. so i will be back for this. and soon too. dammit, i overcame that damn canyon in the race a coupla months back shivering like a gelatin deprived strawberry jelly – i am so going to do this!
noon comes and after lunch, we drag our rafts into the river and i am happy to be back in my element. the water was glorious and cool and rough along all the right edges. among my newfound raft mates was this guy who had a licking of sarcasm to him. not full blown, because that would have done wonders for his character. but the jaga hati kinda guy dipping his fingers in the bad boy persona. interesting la, but i guess yuppie mode is all about the phrase of self discovery anyway.
ada one time they tried to tip the raft over. i love water, but darlings, i would not knowingly flip myself into the water on purpose ha! especially when i was strategically positioned to fly the furthest when the raft flips!
i’m a little sunburnt now :)
