Total number of HIV infections (cummulative) : 76,389

Total number of AIDS-related deaths (cummulative) : 9,155

Men, women and children who are presently living with HIV/AIDS : 67,234 (Women : 5,373)

Men, women and children newly infected with HIV in 2006 : 5,830

AIDS related deaths in men, women and children in 2006 : 976

Average new daily infections in 2006 : 16 cases

0-29 years old : 37.0 %

Women : 8.0% (increase from 1.2% new cases in 1990 to 15% in 2006)

Drug Users : 73.0 %

Heterosexual transmission : 15% (increase from 4.9% new cases in 1990 to 27% in 2006)

Mother-to-child transmission : 0.8% (increase from 0.2% new cases in 1991 to 1.4% in 2006)
