i had an assignment down south and since i had the afternoon to spare, i thought i’d go and get an extra two stamps on my passport – because on this side of the causeway, we’ve gone electro, so no stamps. besides, i wanted to know what all the fuss about the sale is about.
from this side of the border, i took the 190 bus for rm1.50 across two immigration checkpoints. i disembarked at the mersailling mrt station and from there, took a S$1.90 ticket to orchard.

took two escalators up. greeted by black tip sharks. they are beautiful creatures but then my distaste for animals in confined places kicks in. apalah. baru aku main-main dengan the black tips a few months ago kat tenggol. masa tu kan, aku nampak seekor je dah excited giler. now i see a whole pack of them in a shopping mall. at the risk of sounding like a minah kampung, adekepatut?

so off i went down orchard.

caught a picture of a threesome jay-walking… in singh-gah-porrrr, you…

there were a lot of people out an about but tak ramai orang putih pon…

… mostly very asian-looking singaporeans… oi, you people tak gi keje ke?

i saw the visitor center but it was on the other side of the road and i did not want to go find an underground passage…

besides, there’s a tourism info booth on this side. i was only there for the afternoon tho, and i had no intention of shopping or sightseeing.

just to digress (because i can), i think my photography is taking on a creative angle of its own. i’m going all senget and i’m loving it. i can’t exactly point out when all this sideways tendencies took over my lens, tapi i like the effects. i can’t safely say the same for my editors (who, i think secretly thinks that there might be something wrong with my eyesight or sense of balance), tapi creative ma… different ma… fresh ma…

so here i am at somerset. the conclusion of my stroll? well, i suppose if you are earning sing dollars then murah la… tapi i just can’t help converting everything to ringgit. okaylah, murah sikit la, tapi berapa ringgit je. plus, where are all the beautiful ang mohs promosed by the uniquely singapore brochures?!
just an end note on my observations on the streets and on the mrts, can someone tell me what is up with the fashion sense of signaporean girls? aku memang tak ambik gambar because i was too caught up in the shock of what i saw. ade ke, khaki capris (as in the one with a dozen pockets everywhere) with striped stockings and denim skirts?! i saw one girl and thought i’d let that slide as a fashion nightmare but then there was a next girl and then another. and the a couple more on the mrt. ape ni? it’s so harijuku girls tak jadi. TAK JAGIIIIK! FAIL!!!!
that was my afternoon at the southern neighbour’s. a walk. okaylah.
