we spread zydecosis. and there is no cure for zydecosis! ~ lisa haley

at the press conference on the morning of the rainforest world music festival, someone challenged the bands to make music with stuff on the table there and then. immediately, lisa took the microphine, “you want us to make music? here? now? well, just try to stop us!”

this bundle of energy is lisa haley, lead to the band lisa haley and the zydekats. they’re on billboard and they’re grammy nominated, “… and we did not have to sell our souls for it!” lisa tells me. and to think that just one generation ago, zydeco and real cajun music was almost wiped out.

“i compose songs in my sleep,” lisa tells me, “i’m not kidding you. god gives it to me in my dream. i wake up, and it is fully formed,” of course, it does not happen overnight. it takes many days, even weeks, but according to lisa, its all about patience.

i’m kinda sworn to secrecy over her age, but damn, i could only wish i will have all that energy by the time i’m as old as she is. writing dreaming up music. making music. laughing out loud. singing out loud. seriously, what a ball of positive energy!

break, break, break, on thy cold gray stones, o sea! and i would that my tongue could utter, the thoughts that arise in me. ~ alfred lord tennyson

want to know how cold it is? the touch pad on my probook can’t detech my body heat so i’ve got to breath against my finger everytime i need to move the arrow. that’s how cold it is here in los angeles. yes, i made it here after a rash of panic attacks. i actually thought i might be here to join into black friday. but i was so completely drained by the time my flight touched down, that the seven minutes it took for the bus to get from the airport to the hotel felt like forever.

and yes, here i am in yet another time zone. by the time i get back tomorrow, my biology would have been completely messed up. a wise jet setter once told me that one of the ways to make sure that my body would not get totally screwed up is by exercising. drink lots of fluids, don’t eat too much, and sleep. fluids okay. i don’t have much of an appetite these days anyway. and exercise is supposed to make me wake up when i need to wake up and sleep when i’m supposed to sleep. my only contention is that it might have the opposite effect on me.

but i cannot afford that right now. i get back by monday and jump right into work by then. eh, wait a minute, i have been working all through this trip. in fact, i have been working dua kali ganda because i’ve been working over two time zones.

i need to go for a facial when i get back. i need to see if harry potter is still showing. i need to get a shoulder and back massage. i need to eat nasi kandar. i need to sleep.

i have performed at the kodak theatre, on the hollywood walk of fame! so there!

super bragging rights to me, and it really does not matter if you are rolling on the floor right now laughing, because i have done it… and there is a high probability that you have NOT!

the experience was amazing. BO did the recording for me and the crowd was awesome. the video is just a snippet, solely for show off purposes. got a tonne of pictures too and spoke to a bunch of people. it was a beautiful day in los angeles :)

have an awesome aidilfitri weekend, ya’ll. and i’m not going to say don’t eat too much ketupat and lemang and rendang and honey coated peanut and cornflake cookies, because we all totally deserve all the carbs. so yea. knock yourself out.

and drive safe! i like my 200+ daily readers mark! :)

live life fully while you’re here. experience everything. take care of yourself and your friends. have fun, be crazy, be weird. go out and screw up! you’re going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. don’t try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human ~ anthony robbins

we could learn a lot from crayons; some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, while others bright, some have weird names, but they all have learned to live together in the same box ~ anonymous
