fear is the path to the dark side. fear leads to anger. anger leads to hate. hate leads to suffering. ~ yoda

i have completed 80% of the final draft of my postgraduate dissertation on stylistics. upon vetting through the last section of the fourth chapter, i needed to get away from the computer before the madness completely takes over.
i reached the top of the boulder wall today. climbing without a harness is scary because i have this monumental fear of falling. bouldering also requires much more upper body strength because the wall is not exactly vertical but is inverted. one is constantly clinging on a hold with hands and you can’t rest on your feet like on a top rope wall.
i have started on boulder routes. it was refreshing to get away from the computer and have my mind focused on something other than stylistics for a change. the good people at the climbing gym have adopted me as their pet project for the upcoming competition.
upon finishing the climb, i caught up with F and chatted about the production industry over 600ml of sarawakian style spirituality. the industry is filled with dreamers and success stories of many kinds – which is probably why i miss the immersion into publications big time.
the evening is done. i return to my workstation. i have six stories to write for my editors, but that will have to wait one more day. the final, concluding chapter of my dissertation awaits me.

WOW.. The sound of “postgraduate dissertation on stylistics” terrifies me! :) And I thought “Master of Science in Conservation Biology” sounded scary enough (to laymen, that is) *winks*

he he heh… sometimes i swap the word ’stylistics’ with ‘textual discourse analysis.’ love the effect:))
but really, they’re just words. my training has taught me that the human perception is far more important than the vehicle which conveys it:))
