well that is how walking on this beach feels like. the tide has gone down and the shore, thinly lapped with water is patterned in little ridges.

the sand is admittedly not exactly the nicest i have ever seen. it is not white or yellow or gold. i’d describe it as a grey shade of brown.

the sand nevertheless, is soft and smooth.

never judge sand by its colour.

i’m from penang. we call this sort of sand selot up there. the sand is so glazed with saltwater, that it does not exactly crumble when you step on it. instead, it gently leaves a clumsy impression, which quickly disappears as water fills it. crudely, it is kinda like walking on slime, except that it does not stick, nor is it slimy.

god, i miss penang.

starfish scatter over tanjung batu beach, just ten minutes from labuan town. just one more photo now, before i stash my camera and hit the waters!
